Role: Farm Hand / Grounds Maintenance

Role Description: Tropical Fruit World is offering a unique opportunity for a Farm Hand position based in the scenic Duranbah, NSW. This role is vital in assisting management to achieve maximum sustainable production and profitability on our 220-acre agri-tourism business, featuring tropical and exotic fruit orchards. This position is perfect for someone with some experience in the field, looking to further enhance their skills in a dynamic and exciting environment. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Orchard Maintenance, including weed spray and control.
  • Understand and meet work schedule expectations within the Farm Management Plan.
  • Operate farm machinery, including tractors and farm vehicles.
  • Perform Orchard Maintenance tasks like hand pruning and weed removal.
  • Ensure work is completed to specification and within deadlines.
  • Use resources effectively, efficiently, and safely.
  • Liaise with the Farm Management Team regarding schedules and applications.
  • Maintain equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant Horticultural Certificate.
  • Experience in Grounds Maintenance, Orchard Maintenance, and Weed Spray.
  • Chemical Safety Certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Own a Smartphone running iOS or Google Play.
  • A current C Class Manual Driver’s License.
  • Strong work ethic, energetic, well-organized with a positive attitude.
  • Chainsaw ticket & forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
