What is Banana Blossom Kimchi?

Banana blossoms (also known as banana hearts or banana bells) are the large, purple-skinned flowers that grow at the end of a banana bunch. Often used in Southeast Asian cuisine, they’re tender, subtly sweet, and rich in nutrients. At Tropical Fruit World, we’ve taken this incredible ingredient and transformed it into a bold, tangy kimchi inspired by Korean culinary traditions.

Why Banana Blossom?

Banana blossoms are a highly sustainable ingredient because they are often overlooked and discarded in conventional farming. But these blossoms are nutritional powerhouses:

How We Make It

Our farm-fresh banana blossoms are carefully harvested, cleaned, and salted to begin the lacto-fermentation process. Then, they’re blended with a vibrant mix of garlic, ginger, Korean gochugang chilli oil, and koji, to create that signature kimchi kick. After fermenting for several days, the banana blossom transforms into a tangy, spicy, and umami-rich dish that’s packed with depth.
