OPENING TIMES

We're open everyday except Christmas Day, 10:00am to 4:00pm AEST (Qld Time).

FRUIT AVAILABILITY

What fruits are in season right now?
We grow more than 500 fruit varieties on the farm, which have been collected from every continent and many different altitudes across the Globe. When grown here in the sub-tropics they can crop somewhat unpredictably.  And of course, as farmers, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and rainfall.  While we guarantee that you'll see loads of fruit varieties all year  'round, sometimes it's hard to predict exactly which ones at what time!  Check out our newsletters for the latest harvest news and information, and keep an eye on us via FaceBook, GooglePlus, etc for updates.

Can you send me fresh farm fruit or fruit trees?
No.  We only offer fruit and trees for sale on-site.  An extensive range of fruit-based products is available for mail order via our online store.

FRUIT PICKING

Can we pick fruit when we visit?
Where possible (when a seasonal crop is plentiful) you may be invited to sample some fresh fruit from our orchard trees while on your Plantation Safari guided tractor tour.  During the tour you will see specimen trees from our collection of more than 500 fruit varieties. Unlike say, a strawberry farm which offers acres and acres of one seasonal crop, our fruit harvest is sometimes very precious and often somewhat rare.   So we provide an opportunity to taste our fruits in season during our fruit tasting sessions.  Purchase of a Park Tour Admission ticket is required to access the plantation.

Do you employ seasonal fruit pickers?
As we grow so many different fruit varieties from around the world, harvesting takes place all throughout the year.  We have permanent staff on our farm and in our gardens, and do not require casual fruit-picking staff.

WET WEATHER

Do you operate when it is raining?
Yes - tours operate as normal during wet weather.  Our tractor vehicles and boat are covered,  and fruit tasting sessions are conducted indoors. The Animal Farmyard and Island areas are exposed to the open air,  so you may wish to wear sensible shoes and bring an umbrella or rain jacket for these activities.

accessibility

Is the tour suitable for visitors with disabilities?
People who are fully confined to a wheelchair are unable to ride on our tractor train carriages, mini-train or boat, making the orchard-based activities unsuitable. However our Fruit Tasting sessions and Plantation Pavilion areas are accessible to wheelchairs. Wheelchair-friendly restrooms are available in our Plantation Pavilions shopping and dining area. There are a couple of tour activities which require guests to walk a distance of approximately 150metres.  Our tractor-train carriages and our boat vehicle require guests to be able to move up (and down) steps to access them.

Do carers receive discounted admission?
Carers with carer cards/appropriate identification, accompanying a person or persons with disability are admitted free.

BOOKINGS

Do I need to book my tour?
Unless you are travelling as a large family or a group of more than 10 people, there is generally no need to book your tour in advance.  Our tour activities have staggered start times,  so you should be able to start your tour shortly after your arrival and ticket purchase. During our busiest peak holiday periods there may be a slightly longer delay - why not stop in to our Plantation Pavilions area and take a look around?  There's lots to see and sample and the views are lovely.

CELEBRATIONS

Can we bring a picnic?
Yes - our Island recreation area provides lawns and covered areas suitable for setting yourself up with a picnic.  Purchase of a Park Tour Admission ticket is required to access this area. Ticket holders are welcome to stay and play all day, if desired. You may also wish to purchase a boxed lunch or snack from our Plantation Cafe to enjoy on the Island.

Do you offer birthday/children's parties?
Not exactly - you may wish to book a group and take advantage of discounted group tour rates,  then enjoy a picnic (bring cake!) on the Island.  Contact us directly for more information on group bookings at info@tropicalfruitworld.com.au

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR

What should I wear?
Tropical Fruit World is a working farm. Pathways and roads may be uneven in parts, with some dirt and loose gravel surfaces. We recommend that you wear sensible (enclosed) shoes,  as well as a hat and sunscreen as required. An umbrella or rain jacket would be useful in wet weather.

Do you offer loan or hire of strollers, wheelchairs, etc.
No.  Please bring these items with you, if required. We do stock a range of travellers' essentials in our Gift Boutique (sunscreen, batteries, hats, umbrellas etc).
