Trainee: Farm Nursery

Role Description: Become an integral part of the Tropical Fruit World family as a Trainee in our Farm Nursery Department. This role is a blend of practical nursery skills, teamwork, and a deep connection with the world of tropical fruits and plants. Reporting to the Nursery Supervisor, you'll play a key role in maintaining the health and vibrancy of our nursery. Here's a snapshot of your responsibilities:
- Conduct day-to-day general nursery duties and maintenance as directed by supervisors.
- Engage in retail nursery maintenance, including hand pruning, weed removal, and watering.
- Continuously expand your knowledge about the plants and fruits on our farm.
- Participate in nursery potting and propagation of plants.
- Carry out nursery operations and maintenance, including applying fertilizers as instructed.
- Assist in specialized techniques such as air layering and grafting.
- Perform daily machinery maintenance and pre-start checks, including operation of farm machinery like buggies and farm utes.
- Contribute to workshop tidying and maintenance.
- Be involved in soil conservation activities including tree planting and mulching.
- Check and assist in maintaining water systems (pumps, tanks, etc.).
- Undertake domestic duties when required, e.g., rubbish disposal, sorting, labelling plants, administrative tasks.
- Manage irrigation tasks, including laying lines and managing water output to crops.
